Malden Pride in the Park 2024 Accessibility Info

Malden Pride Coalition takes accessibility seriously. We are providing several accommodations for everyone’s use. If you need accommodation that is not listed below, please email pridemalden+access@gmail.com and we will work with you. Please also note that we are an entirely volunteer-run organization and while we will do all we can to come to an agreeable arrangement, we may not be able to meet all needs. This page will be updated as more information becomes available. Check the Site Map for a visual layout of the park.

Masking policy

  • Masking is required for attendees and vendors on and around the basketball court. People will be sitting or standing close together in this area, so it is important to protect each other. Additionally, our performers are not able to mask while they are performing. Audience masking helps to protect them.

  • Masking is required in the shaded seating area on the basketball court.

  • Masking is encouraged in all other areas of the event, except when eating or drinking. No masks are necessary in the picnic area.

  • Masking is especially recommended in any area where you cannot maintain a 3-foot distance from others.

  • Individual vendors can require masking in their tent and should have signage to communicate that.

  • If someone asks you to mask before entering their space, please do so.

  • Masks can be removed if needed for communicating in ASL, or to participate in gender affirming makeup sessions, Narcan trainings, or other activities.

Paved walkways

Coytemore Lea park has paved walkways from Mountain Ave to Clifton St (all the way across the park). The walkway on the Mountain Ave side is accessible for mobility devices, and on the Clifton St side there is an accessible path alongside a shorter, steeper path; both lead out to the street. More information about Coytemore Lea can be found at the City of Malden’s website and at the Malden Rec website.

Interpreters

Interpretation will be available in several languages, including ASL, Mandarin, Spanish, and Portuguese, for the main program of speakers and performers. Please stop by the Operations tent if you need a receiver.

Bathrooms

There are porta-potties in the park on either side of the paved walkway. Two porta-potties are located on the Clifton Street side, next to the steeper pathway entrance. Two additional porta-potties are located near to the Mountain Ave side of the pathway, between the tabling area and the shaded accessible seating area.

Gluten Free and Vegan food options

Our food vendor La Qchara will have gluten free and vegan options available for purchase. We have a limited number of meal vouchers for those in need. Stop by our Operations tent if this applies to you (make sure to do so before placing your order at the food truck).

Livestreaming

In the event you are sick or otherwise unable to make the event, the main program will be livestreamed to our YouTube. Interpretation will not be available online; while far from perfect, YouTube offers auto-caption and auto-translate functions. A video of the program with ASL interpretation will be posted after the event on UMA’s YouTube channel. Links will be posted the day of.

Quiet Tent

A quiet tent will be located in the northeast corner of the park, just beyond the accessible pathway entrance from Clifton Ave. Please respect others’ need to recharge by keeping conversations to a minimal volume and not talking on cell phones in this area.

Shaded Seating

There are shaded park benches available along walk ways through out the park. More information about Coytemore Lea can be found at the City of Malden’s website and at the Malden Rec website. Accessible shaded seating to view performances will be located on the northeast side of the basketball court.

Water

A Quench Buggy will be present for attendees to take cups and water or to fill up water bottles. Please stay hydrated!

Operations Tent

In the event you need something during the event, please stop by our Operations tent which will be centrally located along the east side of the pathway, just north of the basketball court.
